Thank you. Your trust and turnout meant a great deal.
This recall was hard-fought and at times divisive. Strong words were exchanged and names were called. Yet the results showed real momentum: we turned out as strongly as in a regular election or primary. That tells me many residents are paying attention and refuse to look the other way on issues that affect our community, from how major projects like ADI were handled, to Planning & Zoning decisions that felt like overreach, to inconsistent code enforcement.
“You are not obligated to complete the task, but you are not free to withdraw from it.”
I was torn about running. Like many of you, I’d rather focus on my own responsibilities. But I kept returning to a guiding principle: We are not obligated to complete the entire task of protecting our liberties and community standards, but we are not free to withdraw from it either. That is why I stepped up. I’m not a career politician, but I am a thinker who tries to see the long-term consequences of today’s choices. I will bring that perspective to council: asking tough questions, demanding transparency, and insisting on fair, consistent rules that respect property rights and quality of life.
Looking Ahead
The strong showing in the recall gives us real momentum. But we cannot ignore the threat that is still in front of us. The same leaders most responsible for the ADI debacle, the rushed process, the division, and decisiveness it caused in our town of Benson, and the real damage done to trust and our community’s character, now have signs popping up everywhere as they seek reelection.
Those signs should serve as a stark reminder of the challenge we face, not a fresh start. These people plus the likes of Frank Antenori, Juan Ciscomani, and Lupe Diaz continue talking about data centers and other shiny new projects. We cannot afford to forget what their previous decisions cost us. Ignoring this threat and simply moving on would be exactly the kind of withdrawal we must reject.
We don’t need more recalls if we remember their actions and vote accordingly in the upcoming midterm election. Keep top of mind the real impacts their leadership had, and refuse to be distracted by new promises.
To those who voted for me: I will not withdraw from the work in front of us. I will represent you with honesty and common sense. But this only succeeds if citizens stay engaged, attending meetings, asking questions, and holding every one of us accountable.
Thank you again for your support. Let’s carry this momentum forward together with clear eyes and consistent effort.
